As some of you may know, a listing for the Wii U appeared on Amazon.de with a confirmed RRP, and it has now been revealed that price has been amended to €349, but there is still no official word on a price just yet.
Amazon have supposedly been asked several times by CVG to provide information as to whether or not the price listing was simply a method of attracing gamer attention to their product pages, but despite pledging to do so, they have yet to provide clarification. Although nothing concrete is confirmed yet, it is highly suspected that the RRP is just a placeholder and that it is no indication of what the actual price will be.
Last week Amazon had to cancel several pre-orders for the Wii U (when it was listed at £199) after openly admitting that they had no clue what the RRP was going to be. Let’s just hope we don’t see a repeat of that, although if that is the case again, why has Amazon changed the price? Surely changing it will lead people to believe that this may just be the real RRP.
I suppose we will just have to see, but they do seem to be asking for trouble here.
