Assassins Creed: Rogue & AC Unity Not Coming to Wii U? But Why?
Liamsmith78 16th October 2014 0 CommentsWe all know that Assassin’s Creed: Unity will not be coming to the Wii U, especially since the console is under-powered compared to the PS4 and Xbox One and we all know the debate going on regarding Ubisoft struggling with them alone. You can read my earlier regarding this matter here.
But what about Assassin’s Creed: Rouge? I mean, this could easily come to the Wii U if it’s solely made for the PS3 and Xbox 360, you would think the Wii U would be a sure thing….wouldn’t you?
Unfortunately its likely Ubisoft is going to lose so much money on its attempt at porting Watch Dog’s over to the Wii U due to its poor extended development time, added resources, and predicted lack of sales for a game released half a year earlier on every other console. I am sure they will not want a repeat performance.
Does this mean that the Wii U is just plain awful and all developers/publishers should steer clear of? Nope. There is a strange trend happening with Nintendo’s platforms which is causing the whole 3rd party sector, who are appealed but don’t want to spend too much money. Publishers will take a game already released for other platforms, add a small amount of development time to optimize for the Wii U, release it with no marketing, and hope it sells. It’s also disturbing that some game which did this did not include some other feature like online multiplayer. Then when really low sales figures come in, their conclusion is that the Wii U (and the Wii had the same issue) is just not worth their time.
It’s a shame the Wii U hasn’t been given its time of day with some current 3rd party games and I really hope this comes to an end with the increase sales numbers we are currently seeing with the, not so under-performing, console.
