Crytek’s gorgeous looking Crysis 3 is not being developed for the Wii U
Despite having previously made the comment that the Crytek engine ran “beautifully” on Nintendo’s Wii U, Crysis 3 is not in the works
At least not currently, obviously plans can change, but according to Nick Button-Brown’s twitter feed the WiiU version is not currently being developed.
The rumors for Crysis 3 being released for the Wii U have been around for awhile, when Crytek’s CEO (Cevat Yerli) Said (in regards to Nintendo’s Wii U “…minimum on par with the current generation.” Saying that the CryEngine 3 (which of course powers Crysis 3) ran “beautifully” on the up and coming system. He also said that a game is in development for the platform, from a ‘respected’ developer that Crytek would be announcing. Although he did state that the main Crytek team were not the ones behind this mysterious project.
This could mean that another development arm of Crytek are working on it, or something entirely different. Right now though, February, 2013 is the date that the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 are going to see the game explode on to their respective systems. Time will tell if the Wii U gets added to that list!
