The first hints as to what we’re going to be seeing in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins DLC has been unveiled on the official twitter for the game. “All new story DLC coming in 2014!” was touted, and image (shown below) were provided. This comes after a previous tweet, in which there was an invited to the official Gotham Humanitarian of the Year award, which would be hosted at Wayne Manor on New Years Eve. Diamonds and ice crystals, along with the awards statue are clearly present in the image.
It’s likely that we’re going to be seeing a Mr. Freeze story arc, who certainly is a villain of influence in the Batman universe. Ben Mattes, Batman: Arham Origin’s senior producer has been quoted as saying the story DLC would “focus on one of the most key relationships in Batman canon.” So of course, this does raise a few obvious questions – will we only be seeing Mr. Freeze in the storyline, or will someone else from the Batman story make an appearance.
It’s worth remembering that this wouldn’t be the first time we’d be taking on Mr. Freeze in the Batman: Arkham universe. During Arkham City, at one point Mr. Freeze and Batman make an “alliance” of sorts for a short period of time. It’d be good to be getting some more backstory for Mr. Freeze. Not that I don’t love the Joker and company, but I think fleshing out some of the other characters in game can only be a positive step for the series.
