Squads was a very popular feature present in Battlefield 3, but it was removed from Battlefield 4 because DICE felt like it wasn’t high enough quality to include in the game.
No doubt this is causing a smile on some of your faces, as quality is something some would argue is very seperate from the release of BF4. They may have a slight point, as the launch of BF4 has been unsteady and rather messy, but DICE have done a rather nice job in fixing this in fairly good time. It’s probably for the best that Squads was missing from the game, as of course that would have been another mechanics across five platforms for DICE to deal with.
Squads could be returning to Battlefield 4 sooner rather than later, as the Reddit user xSty86 posted screenshots via the subreddit of the Playstation 3 version of the title which showed a Beta version of Squad Access on the multiplayer options menu. The second image they posted (both of which will be shown below) is of the Square Access Lobby.
