Next Gen Cod: Chosts
We knew there would be another Call of Duty released soon, the series is a huge cash generator – the only question is what it would be. There have been a series of ‘accidental’ leaks on retailers websites which have revealed the new title to be Call of Duty: Ghosts. We know that the reveal is likely coming soon – Acivision still haven’t confirmed the game even exists. However, rumors persist and they tell us that it will be officially revealed on May 1st of this year.
Ther are a number of other details that have been leaked – including a production description from Tesco (a UK super store) that hint the game will be using a next generation engine, and will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 (as previously reported). However, we have also learned that it will be released as expected on the PC and next generation consoles (PS4 and Xbox 720) and Nintendo’s Wii U.
Tesco have now removed their product description but it previously read:
“The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty: Ghosts. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series, Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine.”
If the release date of game remains true (November this year) it’ll line up perfectly with the release of the next generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
Other rumors suggest that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be set sometime in the future, however there will be an event in the plotline which forces the characters in the game (whether on the side of the player, or the enemies too is unknown) to use current weapons technology. If you liked Spec Ops mode of Modern Warefare, you’ll be sad to hear that the rumour is that Ghosts is dropping it, and are replacing it with a different game mode.
As usual, take these rumors with a giant pinch of salt until the game has been confirmed!
