The standalone version of the DayZ mod for Arma 2 could possibly make it’s way to consoles, if the PC version is successful enough.
Dean Hall, who is the creator of the original mod and Project Lead on the standalone version, told Joystiq “”You’re not going to put it on the consoles if you’re only going to sell 100,000 units or something like that. DayZ will be driven by its PC development and it will innovative on that. And, once we’re at a point, we’ll take it and do a Mac version, 360 and PS3.”
Hall also mentioned that he met with several console developers when he attended Gamescom last week. He also posted on Reddit, which confirmed that the DayZ standalone game will not “initially” support modding. Simply sounds like modding will come later, possibly with some sort of a creation kit. Here’s hoping that he will not ban modding altogether.
That seems unlikely though, since it’s down to modding that he is this position at all.
