Online retailers may have just leaked Blizzard’s intention to release Diablo 3 for Microsoft’s Xbox One console.
A listing for the Xbox One version of Diablo 3 was recently posted by Canadian retailers Best Buy Canada and Futureshop, before being hastily removed late into Tuesday (yesterday) night. Luckily for us, IGN were helpful enough to grab a screenshot of it before the listing was taken down.
What makes this all the more interesting though, is that it still currently listed by UK retailer Argos and with a release window of 2014. Just in case the Blizzard gods decide to remove this as well, you can find a screencap of the listing below.
Now, it does seem fairly likely that Diablo 3 will be eventually making it’s way to the Xbox One platform. Blizzard has obviously already confirmed that the game will be releasing on the PS4, with no release date yet confirmed, although it will contain the Reaper of Souls expansion.
So it makes perfect sense that we will also see a version released for the X1, it’s just a question of when. At the moment Blizzard has neither confirmed or denied it, with a spokesperson saying;
“One of our goals is to bring Diablo III to as many players as possible, but we don’t have any other platform announcements to share at this time.”
But, I would be more surprised if it doesn’t eventually see life on Microsoft’s next gen platform.
