The Last of Us is without question, one of the biggest games of this year. But anyone who has played it will agree that the biggest ‘star’ of the game is Ellen Pa.. er, sorry I mean Ellie. The Ellie Page memes have been floating around the internet for awhile now, but recently Ellen herself took to Reddit in one of the “Ask me anything” which Reddit is becoming famous for.
A fan asked Ellen “Have you seen any footage of ‘The Last of Us’ and would you have taken the role as Ellie if approached?”
Page responded to the question, “I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond: Two Souls, so it was not appreciated.”
Now, we know that Ellie’s likeness did change over the course of the games development (making her look less like Page than she did originally) but it’s not hard to still see a similarity between the two.
Page also spoke out on Beyond: Two Souls and her video game habits:
“Making Beyond was an incredible experience. I think what David Cage is doing is really remarkable, the first of its kind and I feel grateful to be involved.”
“I played video games more when I was a kid. I had Sega Genesis and was a HUGE Sonic fan. I also love the NHL games and played them with my brother all time. Then I was super into PlayStation and loved the FIFA games. I recently played my first video game in a while. I played the latest Tomb Raider and really enjoyed it, finished in about 12 hours.”
We’ll be seeing Beyond: Two Souls hitting the shelves for the Playstation 3 on the 8th October (2013).
Meanwhile – is imitation of likeness really the sincerest form of flattery? I imagine it must have been a bit of a shock for Ellen Page to see ‘her’ face suddenly pop up in a video game.
