In what first appeared as a suspected error on the Xbox Live marketplace, pricing Fable III at the superb price of £0, Microsoft have now stated that the game is indeed free to Xbox Live gold members until the 30th of June.
Microsoft have stated that the free game is a thanks to their customers for their custom during the life of the Xbox 360 and it’s marketplace. It sounds like a pretty generous offer, so now is a good time to finish off your Fable collection if you have yet to play the third instalment. Hey, it’s free, what have you got to lose? Even if you’ve never played a single Fable game (I personally recommend you start with the upcoming HD remake of the original when it lands if you don’t fancy jumping in mid-series, even for free).
So a generous offering from Microsoft, in fact, this offer is not a one off. It actually marks the start of a 2013 campaign by Microsoft, offering two free games to gold members per month for the remainder of the year. Which games will be offered and when has not been disclosed.
At any rate, if you fancy taking a look at the Fable series, or finally getting up to date with the story, get yourself an Xbox Live gold membership and go claim the spoils.
