Far Cry Classic, which is a remake of the original Far Cry, has been officially confirmed for a release in North America. There have also been some screenshots released.
The remake is promising, among other things, improved graphics, revamped cutscenes and a new interface. It will be released in the US on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 11, forĀ the price of $9.99.
So far, Ubisoft have uncharacteristically fumbled the press of their Far Cry re-release. Why is this, I hear you ask? Well, it’s just a matter of too many different versions being released for some places and not others, and also a lack of clear communication. Far Cry Classic was previously announcedĀ fpr release in the EU as part of a FC compilation called Far Cry Wild Expeditions which also comes with FC 1, 2, 3 and Far Cry Blood Dragon. This EU offering is coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Then, just to make things all the more unclear, the US had a similar collection confirmed, which for some reason was missing Far Cry Classic and was also only announced for PS3, with no plans to release on PC or Xbox 360.
The US Far Cry Compilation (the one without FC Classic, for those of you losing track) will be priced at $39.99. The EU collection has no price at the moment, but is out in a mere few days on February 14.
