As some of you may know, there is a announcement coming in September from Square Enix about a new game in the Final Fantasy XIII series. Well, it is apparently already in production.
In this week’s issue of Famitsu, Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of the game, said that the upcoming title has literally only just entered production and that we will not find out the name of the project until the official announcement on September 1.
This piece of news is little more than a morsel, but since the game has not been long in production does kind of lead me to believe that this project will turn out to be Final Fantasy XIII-3. When this news first came out about a new series incoming from Square Enix, I’m sure many of us were hoping it would relate to the long awaited Final Fantasy Versus XIII. But, sadly, this looks like it is not the case, as Versus has been in production since 2006.
While I’m glad we’re getting a full game and not some money grubbing DLC that gives us a proper ending for FF13-2, I’m still not sure how to feel about Square making yet another sub game for this series. I will, however, will be waiting will apt ears for September 1.
