The ever popular and acclaimed Final Fantasy III will be available for Ouya’s launch
Square Enix are planning to release more of its titles on the Android based system
You’ve likely heard about the Ouya by now, the kickstarter sensation has raised almost $6 million dollars (that’s a staggering six times what the project was originally asking for). It seems to have captured the minds of a lot of people – and Square Enix are certainly not the exception. Final Fantasy III is a classic from the NES era (way back in the gaming mists of 1990), which was a landmark in the FF series – it sold over 1 million copies.
Ouya is getting the 3DS remake
16 years later, there was a remade Final Fantasy III released for Nintendo’s 3DS. For those who have an Android phone and have checked the marketplace recently, you will know this is the version available to buy for your smartphone. Because the Ouya uses the Android operating system, it’s highly likely this is the same version we will see for the Android console too.
Square Enix are the first major publisher to jump on the Ouya, and it is unlikely they will be the last with the hype for the console seemingly increasing with each passing week. Ouya have already signed a deal with cloud gaming’s OnLive service, allowing a fairly impressive catalog of games to be available on the systems launch on March, 2013.
