Some of you may know of the rather disturbing rumours floating around recently about Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Well, it’s turns out that they are not actually true.
According to the site Andriasang, it was confirmed via Twitter by none other than Yoichi Wada that this long awaited game is still alive and well.
“There’s someone making a false rumour that Versus was cancelled,” he said. “Haha… just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it’d knock you off your feet – lol.”
These rumours probably stemmed from the suspicious absence of the Final Fantasy Versus 13 at this year’s E3, and where not helped by recent reports on Kotaku. Square Enix also fueled the flames quite substantially by neither confirming or denying the rumour, which certainly did not bode well for many people, including myself.
Now that we know that the title is still going ahead, this means that the suggested Final Fantasy announcement due in September could very likely be linked to the game. I certainly hope we get some form of news about the game, it has been in development since 2006 and I’m sure there are many fans out there just about foaming at the mouth for some substantial news about the title.
