In a surprise move, Dong Nguyen, the dev behind the successful mobile app Flappy Bird, has announced that he will “take Flappy Bird down” at approximately 12 noon EST.
This honestly surprised me, Flappy Bird is nothing short of a runaway success and Dong has been apparently making an obscene amount from ad revenue.
He made a few tweets regarding this topic, and it seems like all the attention this game has been receiving was getting too much for him.
He then issued a further statement saying that this removal has nothing to do with legal issues occuring from the accusations of him ripping art assets from Super Mario Bros, and even said that some players were using the app too much.
Most of his other games are still playable online (but not via mobile, just on PC) but Flappy Bird has disappeared entirely.
