Metal Gear 25th Anniversary With MGS1 going on a special sale
CrimsonRayne 10th August 2012 0 CommentsMetal Gear Turns 25 years of age this yearm and Konami are celebrating
With Metal Gear Solid just been given trophy support after all this time, and the announcement Metal Gear Solid 1 on the PSOne going on sale, what else are Konami planning?
A lot of things would seem to be the short answer to that question. They (Konami) have just launched a new website dedicated to celebrating Metal Gear turning 25 years old (a grandfather in video game terms). The website hints numerous things are “coming soon” for the ever popular stealth series.
PSOne Metal Gear Solid cheap (£3.99) on PSN Store
One of the main ways Konami are happy to let us celebrate is to reduce the price of the Playstation One classic, Metal Gear Solid, to a rather good deal at only £3.99. It’s sold over 6 million copies, but in case you somehow missed it while it was doing rounds back in the days of the original playstation, you have no excuse now. I personally rank MGS1 as one of my favorite games of all time, and would highly recommend everyone plays this old classic again. It’s a pity it wasn’t included on the Metal Gear Solid HD collection, but still. It should be of note that there is a remake of sorts that was released on Nintendo’s Gamecube (and so basically the Wii), that was called Metal Gear Solid – Twin Snakes which had obviously far improved graphics. If you can get hold of that version, it is well worth it even if you own the original playstation version of MGS1.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Trophy Support
I can read your mind… you are thinking “that’s a bit late, but awesome!” and indeed the Playstation 3 classic, Metal Gear Solid 4 has now received an update which adds in support for trophies. It is around four years after the games original release, but still, at least we have them right. The list is as follows:
