Deep Silver and 4A Games have announced we’ll be seeing Metro Redux, which will be a remastered version of both Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. The games will be available on both the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC and should hit for summer (so it’ll be nice and toasty in the Metro). The good news is they’ll be a ‘cheap’ release, with a single title costing either $24.99 or the bundle for $49.99.
Both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will be running at the magical 60 FPS mark, but there’ll be a slight difference in resolution. The PS4 version will hit the 1080P target, where the X1 manages to reach a still respectable 900P. Remember Metro is already a taxing game, but according to press releases this will look even more gorgeous.
Dynamic Weather, Advanced lighting, destructible environments and better looking and more detailed characters are just a few of the graphical treats we’ll be seeing in Metro Redux. There’ll be a few additions for gameplay too, including a better inventory system and nicer melee combat (as sometimes it felt a little… dicey).
I think it’s fair to say that there’s a lot of remastered titles popping up recently, and despite more than a few folks getting annoyed it’s hard to complain when the games are being released at such a low price. With the crippling nose of the Xbox 360 or PS3 around the necks of the title developers are free to push the engines a little more and show off their creative visions in all of the glory that you’d expect.
Surely that’s worth the buying price of just a few bullets, eh?
