If you own an Nvidia Shield, you might want to check what battery it uses, as if it’s the wrong one it could be in danger of catching fire.
Basically, the Nvidia Shield tablet will use one of two battery types, and one of them is faulty. If you want to find out which one your Shield has, go into your Settings menu scroll down and select About tablet, and then select Status.
Here, you’ll find the battery category, and you should see either Y01 or B01 listed. If it’s B01, there’s no need to worry. However, if you see Y01, you should return the device as soon as possible as apparently, the battery can “overheat and pose a fire hazard”.
Naturally, as this is a total recall (heh), all tablets with the faulty batteries will be replaced at no cost to the owner. Obviously, you will want to back up your data first, as you won’t get the other one back once it’s been recalled.
