A designer working for Robot Entertainment, the guys behind Orcs Must Die! Unchained, made some rather interesting comments yesterday regarding toxic players in their community.
If you want the full lowdown on what he said, as well as my thoughts on his original comment, simply watch the video below. The jist of it, though, was that toxic players are good to have in your game because they will defend your game and will stick with it until the end.
These comments understandably stirred up a fair bit of controversy in the gaming community, and now Robot Entertainment have spoken out once more to clarify the comments made.
“Before we get started, let us be crystal clear – toxic players that worsen the experience for the Orcs Must Die! Unchained community absolutely will not be tolerated.
If a person chooses to restrict or impede upon the gameplay and community experience with inappropriate behavior, then we will ensure they are disciplined and, if needed, banned.”
They then added that they would work “quickly and decisively” to address unruly or toxic players in order to ensure proper feedback from the genuinely positive and passionate players of their title.
