We still don’t know how much Playstation Now is going to cost, but that may have just been revealed artwork posted on the Gaikai website.
As I said above, nothing has been officially confirmed by Sony yet, so do treat this as rumor for now. However, the posted image does show Uncharted 3 for $4.99 and Far Cry 3 for $5.99.
Now, it’s entirely possible that these prices are just placeholders, but so far Sony has refused to comment, which is undoubtedly throwing fuel on the fires of this rumor. I’m not sure what to make of this though, because while PS Now is essentially a “renting” service via streaming, it would still mean an insane discount on PS3 titles. The Last of Us costs $49.99 to buy outright, so in theory it makes the Gaikai streaming service an absolute beast in value terms.
There’s one thing to consider though, and that’s the fact that PS Now will undoubtedly require an excellent internet connection, which is simply not an option for a lot of people in certain parts of the world. So that does make PS Now seem like less of an absolute curbstomp on regular pricing.
I, for one, am eagerly awaiting official word from Sony.
