Around E3 time 2014 we got news that the notorious PlayStation TV may be making an appearance in Europe by end of year 2014. During Gamescom this week, Sony confirmed that the aforementioned PlayStation TV will indeed be coming in time for Christmas.
The “PlayStation Vita TV” was available exclusively in Japan late 2013, but consumers became very intrigued over some of the capabilities of the device, decided that the PS4 was not enough, and wondered if the console would make its way to the rest of the world.
It was quite obvious that the PlayStation TV cries were heard by Sony and many representatives replied to confused fans with acknowledgement of the demand. Now we finally have solid news that the PlayStation TV is making its way to the rest of the world.
PlayStation TV is a small console box which is best described as a small home console version of the PS Vita but with extra features. For example, one of the most interesting features is the ability to pair it with your DualShock 4 and stream any PlayStation 4 to the device to it. Also, the device will be PlayStation Now compatible which will be coming to the UK as an open BETA 2015.
Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America stated at E3:
“This little gem will be able to pair with your PlayStation 4, allowing you to play your PS4 game, via Remote Play, on a second television in your home.”
“It will give you access to video and music streaming services. It will give you the ability to play hundreds of PS3 titles, made available through PlayStation Now. And, of course, PlayStation TV will also play most Vita titles as well as PS1 and PSV classics”.
PS TV will be available in North America on October 14th, 2014 for $99 and €99 in Europe on November 14th, 2014 with a voucher for 3 free digital Vita games. Official announcement below:
