Sony have confirmed that the Playstation Network has not been illegally accessed
Your Passwords and Email address is safe, as Sony assures the public that the PSN network was not compromised.
“We’ve confirmed that the recent claim that PlayStation Network was illegally hacked and that customer passwords and email addresses were accessed is completely false.” says Sony/
All of this was set in motion when the hacking group Anonymous clains that they had once again hacked the Playstation Network, with the following tweet being posted:
They had also added a length document which mentioned they had ‘mined’ various information from Sony, including Email addresses and various other pieces of encrypted info.
Anonymous certainly has a history with Sony and PSN
If anyone remembers the last time this happened, it led to Sony bringing down the Playstation Network so that they could beef up its security. It also was the cause of frustration to many gamers as the PSN store went offline, but worse of all gamers were not able to play with others online.
Anonymous have since removed the tweet from their Twitter feed (as yet there has been no further explanation from the group) so it’s possible it was either a mistake on their part, a troll or who knows what.
So for now, Sony seems to have had a warning shot fired at them.
