DaySpring Canyon is the first place you will need to visit to begin the Dawnguard DLC quest
This is regardless if you wish to side with the Dawnguard or eventually turn into a Vampire Lord, all roads start at DaySpring Canyon
Skyrim Dawnguard DLC starting quest location
With the release of the PC and Playstation 3 versions of Dawnguard finally upon us, a whole other group of people will find the frustrations of finding this somewhat obscure location.
To be given the quest to go there, you must be at least level 10 in game, so if you are not quite there you can either wait for a bit (unlikely since you just bloody well paid for it, right?) or you can go there directly. If you are level 10 and have patience though, you can get hold of a quest by going to a major city and listening to to the chatter of the guards. They will give rumors of the location.
But, if you just want to head straight there, where do you begin your trek?
The exact location of DaySpring Canyon
You will want to fast travel towards Riften, which hopefully you’ve already been to. By then you will notice that according to the below image, you still have quite the trek to go for. Having a horse along for the ride is a good idea. Also, a word of warning on your travels to Dayspring Canyon, you will have to concern yourself with a lot of wolves, trolls, thieves, bandits and even a dragon lurks in the area, But if you are going to join the Dawnguard, that won’t be any trouble for you, right! 🙂
Follow the arrow to find the location of Dayspring Canyon off the road.
Once you’ve followed the mountain around you should find yourself on a path, please continue to follow that along until you find a bridge. The bridge is basically the sign post that you are coming up to it. Once you have crossed the bridge, continue on the path, you should by now be seeing a fallen tree. Just a few seconds past that tree is the Dayspring Canyon (note, you will NOT be able to see this if you do not have the Dawnguard DLC, the cliff face will be solid).
Beyond the fallen tree is Dayspring Canyon, which hides the entrance to the Dawnguard DLC.

In the above image you can see looking to your left as you get past the tree will make the entrance clearly visible.
I still can’t find the Dayspring Canyon Entrance on PC
If you still are unable to find the entranceway, ensure that you are launching the game with the launcher, and click on data and ensure that the Dawnguard data is ticked or you will not be able to find the entrance to the Dawnguard Fort.
