It seems Square have a few treats planned for us this year, and one of them is not too far away…
The wild speculation this is undoubtedly creating is courtesy of Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda, who said, among other things, that their plan for this financial year is “a box of surprises”.
Then, he went on to further fuel the flames of speculation by saying that the mighty Final Fantasy 15 is only the beginning of their plans for JRPG titles this year.
“I think we’ll have a little surprise, too,” before going on to explain that he was referring to a “JRPG for home game machines”.
He also spoke a little about their plans outside of their signature JRPG games, saying;
“…a considerable amount of high-end games. With respect to HD titles for 2015, our Japanese and Western studios are both bolstering their lineups considerably, so it’d be wise to keep an eye on them.”
Some of you might joke and say, “Oh it’ll just be another FF7 HD ‘remaster'”, but to be honest, I think even Square knows that would be met with sighs of resignation rather than any real excitement. I doubt very much it will be the much requested full remake of FF 7, but you are all feel free to dream. Just don’t blame me when Square crushes your dreams.
