There has been a leak of the Star Wars Battlefront alpha client, and it has revealed a ton of information.
The alpha client has leaked ahead of the closed alpha, which is set to begin later on today for a small group of Origin users. Now, the files contained within have made it out into the wild, and Battlefront fans wasted no time in combing through them for the slightest crumb of information.
There is a post on NeoGAF which says that the test will bring both Multiplayer and missions mode to the table. The multiplayer mode will be the same one that was showed off at E3 2015, which is of course Walker Assault on Hoth. The mission mode will be taking place on Tatooine, and the map for that seems to have two versions which differ based on the time of day.
The user also found mentions of several weapons, such as E11, A280, DH17, DL44, DLT19, DLT20a, SE14c, and T21. There also seem to be character specific weapons, such as the EE3, which is probably designated for Boba Fett.
On the vehicle side of things, we have T-65 X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Lambda Shuttle, Y-Wing, Tie-Bomber, Corellian Corvette, Nebulon B Frigate, ISD (Imperial Star Destroyer), AT-ST, AT-AT, TIE Interceptor, 74-Z Speeder Bike. It’s fairly likely that some of these are actually for the full vwersion of the game, and some of them won’t be playable such as Star Destroyers.
Now, the leak also revealed that there is no server browser, only matchmaking. However, it is important to remember that this is an alpha test, and is very much subject to change. What is interesting, though, is the range of emotes available to you. These go from a simple applause to an SOS one… perhaps this could be an indication of the type of chat system?
