As with any multiplayer focused game, how exactly the matchmaking will work in Star Wars Battlefront is extremely key. Now, it has been confirmed that the game will have dedicated servers.
Designer Jamie Keen recently spoke with Playstation Lifestyle, where he touched on the topic of Star Wars Battlefront and whether or not it would use dedicated servers.
“We’ll still have dedicated servers. Absolutely. It’s one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver an unparalleled online service for the game.”
This is definitely good news, and is encouraging after getting the news that the game would not feature a server browser, even on the PC version. While there has yet to be any discussion on whether or not you will be able to set up a custom game for people on your friends list, we do know there will be no way to browse servers.
So, the news of dedicated servers will come as a huge relief to most still interested in the game, confirmation of P2P servers, alongside the lack of server browser would have surely spelled disaster.
