Not too long ago, we had a pretty huge scandal in the eSports scene when three notable players and coaches were arrested for matchfixing.
Now it seems the scandal is not over, as fan favourite Life has reportedly been arrested on matchfixing charges.
Before you panic, Life has not been charged with anything and we should all wait for the official verdict before jumping to any conclusions.
Life was arrested by the Changwon District Prosecutor’s Office in the South Gyeongsang province of South Korea, the same people responsible for the arrests in team Prime that I discuss in the video below.
The arrests in Prime were pretty big news, but if Life were to be convicted it would deal a huge blow to eSports. Life is arguably the greatest Starcraft 2 talent of his generation, as he won the GSL at just 15. Since then, he has several tournament wins under his belt, including Blizzcon 2014 and GSL last year. He also just barely missed out on a Blizzcon championship last year, too.
While it has been confirmed that Life’s arrest is to do with last year’s matchfixing scandal, he has yet to be officially found guilty.
KeSPA have confirmed that Life can’t take part in anything until he has been cleared. Let’s hope he is, if someone of Life’s stature were convicted, it would be a bad time indeed. Many people, including myself, would be crushed.
