We’ve known there’s been an ‘exclusive’ Capcom title in the works for the Playstation 4 for some time, and now it would appear we know what it is. Capcom accidentally published a trailer revealing Street Fighter 5 would be released exclusively on Sony’s console along with the PC.
The clip has since been made private (and I imagine someone over at Capcom got yelled at quite a lot), but there have been a few uploads (which have since been taken down). But, people have grabbed a bunch of images and gifs from the video (linked below).
Using the wording ‘exclusive’ is certainly a bit odd – and one wonders if this means there’ll be no arcade version of Street Fighter 5. Similarly, there is the question of if it’s a timed exclusive for the Playstation 4, or if say 3 months later, we’ll see the title appearing on Microsoft’s Xbox One.
It’s a little surprising that we’re seeing Street Fighter 5 this early, many suspected with Capcom putting so much work into USF4 the game would last a bit longer (especially when you consider Omega Mode isn’t even released yet). But since we don’t know the time frame of SF5’s release, it’s possible USF4 will have to last us for some time.
SF5 continues the series tradition of being a 2d brawler (which I’m sure many are thankful for), but there are some obvious changes to the property of just a few moves on display (for example, Ryu’s Tatsu). Graphics are certainly several notches better than previously, featuring far better lighting, textures and facial details. Notice how Ryu’s belt moves when he performs the Shinkuu Hadoden for example.
Hopefully we’ll see the title officially revealed at the Playstation Experience event – and perhaps Capcom will tell us if the game will ever be available on the Xbox One.
