The PS3 exclusive, The Last of Us, has had it’s release date delayed, PlayStation has confirmed.
The game, which was originally supposed to be released on May 7, has now been pushed back to June 14 for all retail releases. Naughty Dog had this to say about the reason for the delay;
“As a team we pride ourselves on setting a very high quality bar for every aspect of our games – gameplay, story, art, design, technology and more. We want to make sure The Last of Us raises that bar even further – for ourselves, and most importantly, for our fans.”
The delay first raised it’s head when both GameStop and Best Buy changed their listings for the PS3 exclusive game to the date tuesday June 18. Also, one customer for Best Buy also claimed to have received an email concerning his Last of Us pre order which confirmed the delay.
While it is a shame that we have to wait even longer for a game that has been getting us all hyped for a long time, but I think we would all prefer that Naughty Dog take their time and make sure that their game is as polished as possible upon release. The last thing any of us want is for them to deliver a buggy, broken mess on release day. I’m looking at you, Aliens: Colonial Marines.
