Both Worms Battlegrounds and Nutjitsu will be the first games to make it onto the Xbox One digital store via the ID@Xbox program, which was designed to encourage self publishing indies.
Phil Spencer, who is the corporate VP for Microsoft Studios, posted a tweet about playing both of these titles on sunday, mentioning Worms and Nunjitsu, which is a game about a ninja squirrel.
It was also then officially announced by Team 17, the developer behind Worms that Worms Battleground would be released on the Xbox One via ID@Xbox. It will naturally also be making an appearance on the PS4.
Hopefully this will mean bright things for the future of ID@Xbox, which is obviously designed to give indies freedom from publishers and that extra helping hand for getting there game out into the world. I doubt they had Worms in mind when they created it, but it’s still encouraging to see it in action. Hopefully we will see more and more titles use the program in the future.
