Heads will likely be rolling right about… NOW! As Microsoft have accidentally let leak a 56-page document detailing the Xbox 720 has seen the light of day. Although the paper is from August, 2010 it’s loaded with details such as SmartGlass, Metro dashboard and Xbox TV. Hopefully the console will see a 2013 launch!
Microsoft are pretty clear they want the 720 to be a powerhouse, with a Blu-Ray drive (and acts as a player to boot), native 3d output (along with glasses) concurrent applications, sensors and more peripheral support (hopefully that’ll mean a mouse / keyboard for games?). It also promises 1080P output.
They’ve also been happy to announce 6 times the performance (of the Xbox 360) . It’s also designed to be scalable in the number of CPU cores and their running frequencies. It seems that the document is in a state MS were trying to decide between 6 or 8 ARM-based cores (or going back down the X86 route) each clocked to about 2GHZ. with about 4GB of ram, (DDr4) and backa backward compatible CPU for Xbox 360 games.
MS seem to be shooting for a shade under 300 dollars, and with a unified Windows 8 foundation it should make development easier on the new console…
