Numerous complaints have surfaced, mostly via Twitter, regarding the Xbox One and it’s video streaming services.
One of these complaints actually came from Robert Bowling, an Ex-Infinity Ward developer. He wrote on this Twitter;
“Anyone else experiencing inconsistent video quality on @AmazonVideo on Xbox One? I get stable 1080p streaming on PS4 but sub-SD on Xbox One.”
He also expanded on the topic in another Tweet, in which he said;
“@mariusstrom Hey were you able to fix the Netflix issue with getting stuck on 99% on very few movies on Xbox One?”
Another user on Twitter confirmed Bowling’s reports in a direct reply, agreeing with the statements made about the PS4 streaming being smoother.
“@fourzerotwo I’ve had the same issue with Netflix. Xbox one very pixilated and ps4 very smooth.”
Yet another complaint surfaced, and while this by no means confirms that this is a widespread issue, it does mean it’s unlikely to be an issue on the user’s end.
“@XboxSupport i never had streaming issues on the 360. But the xbox one keeps crackling my HD movies everytime I rent one. Any suggestions?”
As of the time of writing, there has not been any official word at all from Microsoft. Given that it’s the Christmas period, that isn’t really surprising. While I doubt their offices are completely closed, there is probably not much more than a skeleton crew until the 6th of January or so. Once we get into the swing of the new year, I would expect Microsoft to address this issue, even if it’s just through a quiet patch.
