Guerilla has put up yet another new map for Killzone Shadow Fall, this time a gravity distorting map by the name of Canyon.
As with all maps for KZ: Shadow Fall, Canyon is free for all players of the PS4 exclusive. As you all know, Guerilla is trying to go against the practice of charging for maps in FPS games.
Onto the map, though – Canyon takes place in the ruins of Pyrrhus on the Helghast homeworld. Anyone playing this new map will be enjoying lots of wide open spaces for extended firefights, as well as narrow routes along the edges of the map which open up some interesting flanking abilities. The most interesting thing about the Canyon map, though, is the new form of traversal introduced in it. Players will find strange gravity wells throughout the map, which are demonstrated in the video below.
The official description reads as such,
“Consisting of anomalous spaces where the planet’s gravity field is severely distorted, these wells allow players to ‘fall’ upwards to quickly reach different areas.”
Sounds a little bit Portal to me, which can only be a good thing. I hope to see this mechanic put to good use, and I would love to see some opinions (and maybe even some videos) from you on our Youtube, Facebook or Twitter pages.
