Quite a few heavy hitting triple-A games are coming this way in the coming months. You may need a nice energy drink to quench that thirst. Well don’t worry because Mad Max shamefully reminds you in constant loading screens to drink some Rockstar energy and even has a car made of re-purposed cans, with the Rockstar symbol on the back (of course), dedicated to them….if you buy cans Rockstar and find the special code of course. Oh yeah, you don’t get this for free! How dare you think that 😛 .
So how does this “promotion” work. well you have to go buy the limited edition Mad Max Rockstar cans (only in the US). Â This is of course a full priced games plus advertising. Thank god it doesn’t play a video ad inbetween loading screens.
Even Destiny has recently been under fire for its Redbull promotion for; US only, XP boosting, Â and special mission codes.
I know that this has been done before and people dont bat an eye much, but I think it really does need addressing. I do not like that you pay full price for a game and have some of the content put behind another paywall, especially a random chance paywall!
I would love this to die out but so many people will fall for it and buy these cans. Because of that, these things will never go away and will become worse. Same goes for pre order culture.
