Not much has really happened with the Playstation since it launched back in 2013 in Japan and 2014 in North America.
But it now seems as if the PS TV’s time is at an end, as the official product listing for the device in Japan notes that shipments are done.
It is still available for sale from major retailers here in the west, but as I mentioned earlier, it launched a year later over here.
As we all know, the Playstation TV didn’t really catch on over here, even with the almost immediate price drops. In fact, since it’s announcement and subsequent release, I have heard almost nothing of note about the device.
The Playstation TV falls under Sony’s PS Vita segment, which has been in a sad death spiral for some time, especially in the west. A lot of this is down to a lack of third party support and a lackluster game library in general.
There is yet to be any comment from Sony about the fate of the PS TV in the west, but it’s safe to say it’s days are numbered.
