Yes, you read that correctly. Ubisoft has announced that they will be opening a theme park in Malaysia in 2020.
Weirdly, everything will be indoors and will feature rides, shows, and “other attractions” based off of their games.
The park will be run by Malaysian theme park developer RSG, but Ubisoft will obviously maintain creative control.
Jean de Rivieres, Ubisoft Motion Pictures senior vice President, had this to say.
“Ubisoft’s intention for this park is to immerse people in reactive worlds where they can interact with each other and become the heroes of their own life-sized game.”
“Ubisoft will produce all digital media for the rides, and help design guests’ journey into the park to ensure the visitors’ experience is at its best.”
I’m not really sure what to expect from this. Even though the park will be spread over 10,000 square metres, the fact that it’s indoors does have some rather obvious limitations. There won’t be any towering rollercoasters, flume rides or any of the other big attractions that are often the flagship of places such as Alton Towers.
So, an Assassin’s Creed waltzer? A Splinter Cell coconut shy? Who knows.
